Audra Mcdonald is a standout in her breadth of talent and her versatility as a singer and actor. She was the recipient of a record breaking six Tony Awards as well as two Grammy Awards and Emmy Awards. The actress was also identified in Time magazine among the 100 most influential individuals and received an award called the National Medal of Arts - the most prestigious prize in America for artistic achievement by President Barack Obama. A stunning singer, with an unparalleled talent for dramatic truth telling, Ms. O'Connor can be found performing on Broadway in addition to the stage of opera and on TV. Apart from her theater work, she has been a busy recording and concert artist. She performs regularly at the most prestigious venues in the world. McDonald was brought up at Fresno California by her musical parents. They also studied classical singing in the Juilliard School, New York. One year after graduation McDonald won the Tony Award Best Performance for a Lead Actress of Musical in Carousel at Lincoln Center Theater. In the four following years, she won two additional Tony Awards as a featured actor as a featured actress in Terrence Mcnally's Broadway debuts Master Class (1996) and Ragtime (1998). The actress then starred with Kathy Bates and Victor Garber in the highly acclaimed 1999 television adaptation of Annie and in 2000 she was a frequent guest on the NBC's hit show Law & Order Special Victims Unit. The following year, she received her first Emmy award for her performance on the HBO film adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning show Wit, produced by Mike Nichols and starring Emma Thompson McDonald returned to network television in 2003 on the drama about politics Mister Sterling, produced by Emmy Award winner Lawrence O'Donnell Jr. and starring Josh Brolin. In 2006, McDonald appeared on WB's The Bedford Diaries. The following year, she became an actor in NBC's Kidnapped. McDonald earned a nomination for a Fourth Emmy in 2016 for her part in HBO's production in the series Lady Day, at Emerson's Bar and Grill. The Bite will be a six-episode series about a epidemic co-produced with Spectrum Originals, CBS Studios and Taylor Schilling in 2021. McDonald first played U.S. lawyer Liz Lawrence (now Liz Reddick), in CBS's Legal thriller The Good Wife, in the year 2009. In 2018, she recast her role on The Good Fight for Paramount+ as a regular in the series. She received three Critics Choice Award Nominations. The actress is currently appearing as a guest on Julian Fellowes' historical drama The Gilded Age, which airs on HBO.
