Kat Dennings was born on June 13, 1986, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania and was given the name Katherine Victoria Litwack. Ellen Dennings who is Kat's mom is a journalist and speech therapist. The father of Kat is Gerald. Gerald is a professor at a university and molecular biologist. Dennings is the youngest of five children who was raised in a family that was all Jewish. Dennings was a student at a school which wasn't traditional, and was only in a brief period of homeschool. When she started acting at the age of nine, she discovered that homeschooling was the ideal solution. Already at age nine when she began acting in commercials. The family moved from the city of Los Angeles after she graduated high school in order for her to study acting. Kat Dennings was her name at the time she started to audition. Kat Dennings acting debut after having moved to LA was when she appeared on the HBO series "Sex and the City" in 2000. Following that, Dennings was a star on the sitcom of WB "Sex and the City".
